About Us.

Shortly after earning his Honours Bachelor in Mathematics with an Accounting major, and before completing his Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting at the University of Waterloo in 1999, Sergio P. Caetano founded SPC Accounting Services.  Prior to choosing an education and professional life based around numbers, Sergio quickly noticed that the Waterloo Region’s Portuguese community could not satisfy their accounting and tax related needs with a Portuguese speaking accountant, as there were none.  Understanding that people are loyal to their accountant (a notion that SPC Accounting Services has always respected when being solicited by potentially new clients), Sergio knew that being strong in accounting and fluent in the Portuguese language, would not be sufficient to lure clients.  For that reason, he had to garner a solid reputation within the accounting industry and the Waterloo Region.  By working in a small accounting practice, satisfying the assurance, accounting, and taxation needs of the firm’s clients, that varied from small, medium and large corporations, municipalities, sole-proprietors, and not-for-profit organizations, Sergio reinforced his accounting knowledge with 11 years of public accounting experience.

His accounting knowledge and experience was reinforced when he moved on to work 3 years as a Property Accountant at Waterloo Region’s largest regional shopping centre, and a year with full-service property and asset management group.  While obtaining his practical accounting experience, not only did Sergio get married and start a family, he was and continues to be involved with various organizations occupying director/ management roles on a volunteer basis.   At the same time, Sergio was slowly building client relationships with SPC Accounting Services by satisfying accounting and taxation needs of Portuguese individuals and corporations that were obtained strictly on a non-solicitation, referral and word of mouth basis. After recent exponential growth, it was apparent that Sergio had the knowledge, experience and reputation to take SPC Accounting Services to the next step and offer the innovative accounting and tax solutions to you and your business that have come to enhance the accounting experience and results of its current clients.
